Summary

Enoch Powell begins his “Rivers of Blood” speech by presenting a voter’s opinion that the number of black people will overtake that of white people in the UK in a few decades. According to Powell, the voter complained to him that the country was no longer a safe place for his children. Powell claims that the voter’s opinion is shared by thousands of people whose voices he feels compelled to take into consideration. 

Powell goes on to predict that the UK will be almost completely occupied by immigrants and their descendants over the next two decades. He proposes limiting the influx of immigrants into the UK and associates immigration with the UK’s death.
