“A Very Short Story” by Ernest Hemingway starts with an American soldier who was wounded in World War I and is taken to a hospital in Padua, Italy, where the man falls in love with a nurse named Luz. To be able to spend time with him, Luz takes the night shift in the hospital for three months, a period when all the people in the hospital are aware of their relationship.
