‘'In the Ghetto'' and ‘'Black and White'' are two texts that talks about black lives and social standards between black and white. ‘'Black and White'' is a full length novel and ‘'In the Ghetto'' is a song. Even though these are completely different genres, they are quite similar in many ways. ‘'In the Ghetto was released in 1969 and ‘'Black and White'' was released in 2005. So clearly this has been an issue for a long a time. Is it still a problem in our society today?
“Black and White” is a novel written by Paul Volponi, an author who has spent his whole life in New York. The novel takes on many subjects, including white privilege, friendship and the differences in the lives of the usual white teenager, compared to the life of a black teenager. The story is about Marcus and Eddie, two 18-year-old boys who are the closest friends you could ever imagine. Eddie lives in a nice house with both his parents. Marcus only has his mother.
