Hidden Figures is a movie directed by Theodore Melfi (1971), and was released in 2016. The movie is in the genre drama, however there is a lot more to it than that. The main actors in the movie are Katherine Johnsen (Taraji P. Henson), Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spenser) and Al Harrison (Kevin Costner). The themes in this movie are racism, the cold war, love, change and the future. All of these themes I will explain and give examples to further on.
I will therefore in this analysis, write a short summary of the film, moving on to writer's technique and the story`s point of view. Furthermore, I will write about the films composition and the character analysis. Furthermore, I will discuss themes and the message in the movie, and how the movie portrays the historical period of the 1960s. Lastly, I will give a short conclusion.

I wished to introduce the plot with this quote, since it really portrays the movie in a good way. The story takes place in Virginia, in 1961. It is the time where the United States are competing with Russia to become the first people to circle the orbit, and walk on the moon. In this section I will discuss and introduce the main characters in the movie. Katherine Johnsen is played by Taraji P. Henson. She is the main character, and also the girl in the beginning of the story with the incredible mind. Katherine works with the “big guys” at NASA, and is the mathematician that Al Harrison is looking for, but experiences a hard time at work because she is a nergo woman.
