The book “A thousand splendid suns” is a novel written by Khaled Hosseini. He is from Afghanistan and lives in America. His first book was “The Kite Runner”, which also was a story that took place in Afghanistan. “A Thousand Splendid Suns” is yet another story that takes place in Afghanistan. The story began in the beginning of the 1960's, before the Taliban came to Afghanistan, and tense to the 2000's. There are a lot of issues against women in the novel, and therefor will this text be a debate about women's lives in Afghanistan. How are women getting betrayed through what we see in the book, and are such things the reality?

Most young girls are married at a young age because their family thinks about themselves before their daughters. The girl's family could have a bad economy. If their daughter got married, they would have one person less to pay for. It is also traditional that the men give money to the girl's family before he can marry their daughter.
