“Hamlet” is one of the most well-known plays in the world, possibly the second most viewed play after “Romeo and Juliet.” Both plays are written by William Shakespeare, the originator of tragic plays. Hamlet consists of countless themes, everything from love and relationship to war and treachery. The tragic story evolves when Prince Hamlet discovers, in an unorthodox way, the death of his father, the king, Hamlet. King Hamlet's ghost appears before Prince Hamlet and reveals the fact that it was not a natural death, but a regicide by his own blood relative, his brother Claudius.
The protagonist: Prince Hamlet
Hamlet, the protagonist, is a very ingenious and clever person, which is illustrated when he managed to outsmart Claudius and his helpers from their death traps. Hamlet managed to survive several homicide attempts by Claudius and Laertes in the end. Claudius organized a fixed duel between Laertes and Hamlet by means of a minor twist. The tip of Laertes blade was poisoned, therefore a slight scratch would mean death. Ironically, the one blade that was altered to ensure the death of Hamlet, resulted in the death of Laertes and Claudius as well.
