English was a language spoken by merely 5 million people in 1500, and the dominant language was Latin. And before this time, the French kings ruled England. During this time English was simplified and new words were added constantly. The spelling of the English was also changing at this time, and it began taking form. There was little use of English outside of England. Even though English was only spoken by 5 million people, this however changed when England started to form colonies around the world. English as the world language begins with one nation, England.

Because Britain was an extraordinary sea nation, there is no doubt that they did great at sea. British explorers started to lead expeditions to other parts of the world, such as South America and Africa. These explorers were looking for valuable loot, and to assure the trade, they formed colonies. And the British Empire expanded to become largest colonial power in the world. Englishmen took their language with them to the colonies. So this is how the natives started to learn English, sometimes the natives had to learn it.     Vanskelig for meg å tro at dette var en 5'er oppgave. Den skulle gitt informasjonen/argumentene i en mer logisk rekkefølge. Den har helt ok informasjon, men lite utdypende.
