Doctors Without Borders has become known as the white army. For almost 40 years they have travelled across the globe to help people in need. In the face of disaster and tragedy they manage to get involved with one main goal; to heal and protect, no matter what the circumstances may be. Their work is based on the humanitarian principles of medical ethics and impartiality. They believe that that all people have the right to good medical care in despite of race, religion and political affiliation. They are devoted to providing people in crisis with the medical help that they need regardless of what side they are on during war.

This organization was originally created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.
The whole thing started with a newspaper ad saying, “The red cross seeks doctors for Biafra”. The Nigerian Civil War, also known as the Nigerian-Biafran War was a political conflict caused by the attempted secession of the southeastern provinces of Nigeria as the self-proclaimed Republic of Biafra. In the course of three years, the war caused the death of one million people. The small group of French doctors were there to see it happen.
