South Africa is located on the southern tip of the African continent . The 1 221 037 km² large country has borders to Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Mozambique. South Africa has a coastline, which stretches 2,798 kilometers and borders to both the Atlantic and Indian oceans.

The large country in the south is famous for its rich wild life, where the big five (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard) usually catches most peoples attention. 8,2 % of South Africa's population has English as their first language, but Zulu dominates with 23,8% of the population. Other languages such as small, different tribal languages are only spoken by a small number of people in South Africa.

South Africa has a growing population, which is now around 47 900 000 inhabitants. Today, 5,3 million of the people are HIV/AIDS positive. This unbelievable large number of people infected by this disease results in 370, 000 deaths every year.
