The story is about a young man called Stanley Yelnats. He was taken to Camp Green Lake because he was accused to have stolen some sneakers belonging to Clyde Livington, who was a famous baseball player. The sneakers were donated to the homeless shelter, and were going to be auctioned, and it was expected that they would sell for over five thousand dollars. The money would go to help the homeless. Stanley was innocent, but nobody believed him, and his family couldn’t afford a lawyer. Stanley got judged to be at the camp for eighteen months, where he’s going to dig a hole every day.
